Cleaning "Piepan" Wheels
By Jesda Gulati

I previously used Greased Lightning for my wheels along with a brass 'tooth'brush from Home Depot. Worked pretty well in the past, though it required a fair amount of effort.

Simple Green was on sale today in a spray bottle at Wal-Mart so I decided it to try it.

First of all, I recommend gloves. As I type this, my hands are burning, like I dunked them in a bucket of gasoline.

Second, its AMAZING. Just a couple sprays started eating up all that caked on brake dust and dirt. A simple wipe with a rag did the trick. The original piepans are a thing of beauty, they're unfortunately neglected and underappreciated.

After cleaning the wheels, go over them with a coat of NuFinish to prevent brake dust from sticking and to make future cleaning easier. Future cleaning can be usually done by simply wiping with a rag, no chemicals needed.
