Fan Only Blows Full Speed
By Jesda Gulati

If your Q45's blower fan only operates at full speed, it is likely caused by a bad darlington resistor (fan speed sensor). This device controls the blower motor speed; an old or dirty blower will draw extra current and damage the device.

Above: The silver rectangle behind the glove box is the darlington resister. The blower fan is the large black cylindrical object on the right.

The part is the same for all 1990-1996 Q45s.

To replace the darlington resistor:
1) Remove the globe box.
2) Unplug the connector on the back of the silver object.
3) Remove the two screws and pull out the silver object.
